4. Kingston to Chertsey

At Kingston the towpath crosses to the left bank for the first time. Beyond Hampton Court, on the edge of the county of London, the towpath switches back to the right bank as far as Shepperton. Walkers should note that the last ferry at Shepperton is at 6pm in summer and earlier in winter. An alternative waymarked route, handy for those wishing to use Shepperton Station, can be followed across Walton Bridge.

Molesey Lock: Cafe (on towpath). June-Sept 9am-6pm.

Sunbury: The Weir (on towpath). 11am-11pm (Sun 12-10.30pm). Food all day.

Walton-on-Thames: The Swan. 11am-11pm. (Sun 12-10.30pm.) Food until 2.30pm & 7-9pm.

Shepperton Ferry: The Ferry Coffee Shop. Mon-Sat 9am-5pm; Sun 10am-5pm. On left bank at Nauticalia. Toilets.
Shepperton Lock: Teas and ices in summer.
Shepperton Lock: Thames Court is just upstream from lock. 11am-11pm. (Sun 12-10.30pm. Food, including children’s menu, all day.
