HMS Belfast, moored in the Pool of London, has been closed to the public after the gangway plunged into the river at lunchtime on Tuesday.
The Thames Path outside Southwark Crown Court was closed to enable emergency vehicles to be brought to the riverside.
Visitors on board the ship had to be ferried to the nearby pier.
